Friday still looks like the more significant severe weather threat for Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. The greatest risk of damaging winds, hail, and even tornadoes looks to be in SPC’s “ENHANCED” risk area. Since this will be a line of storms, we do not expect a major tornado “outbreak,” but over the years we have learned that lines of storms can indeed create brief, spin-up tornadoes.
There’s no need to panic or let worry overtake you. This is the first substantial threat of severe weather we have had in quite some time, so use the occasion to make sure you have everything you need in case you need it.
