HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – According to the drought monitor valid Tuesday, December 13, not much change has occurred to the ongoing drought conditions across north Alabama and southern Tennessee.

Minor improvements with respect to the ‘extreme’ drought conditions over portions of northeastern Alabama and northwestern Alabama. The small area included in ‘exceptional’ drought remains the same as last week.

‘Severe’ drought conditions prevailed elsewhere across the region.

Drought emergency continues

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) Office of Water Resources has placed all Alabama counties in the Huntsville NWS county warning area in a drought emergency.

Tennessee remains in a state of emergency due to the dry conditions there, according to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
