UPDATE AT 9 PM: The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been cancelled for our area.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 PM for Jackson, Marshall, DeKalb, Marion, Winston, Cullman and Etowah. Severe storms that develop over the next several hours will be capable of producing frequent lightning, damaging winds and large hail.

Storms are starting to move into our area. Along with the threat of severe storms, there will also be a flood risk.

Periods of heavy rain could lead to ponding on the roads and instances of flash flooding. Additional rainfall amounts of up to three inches with isolated higher totals will be possible.

Warm and Humid

A southerly wind flow will pump deep tropical moisture into the region this week which will keep dew points high and in the upper 60s and low 70s. Along with the very humid conditions, heat index values could reach the mid-90s. Make sure to stay plenty hydrated if you have any outdoor plans.
