LAS VEGAS-- Two women are dead following flash flooding Thursday night in Las Vegas, according to CBS affiliate KLAS.
One woman's body was found covered with debris in a flood control channel Friday morning.
“This death is a tragic reminder of why floods are nature’s number one killer,” said Steve Parrish, general
manager and chief engineer of the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. “We work every day to
protect the community from floodwaters. This is a tragedy that did not have to happen.”
The woman's companion was rescued Thursday night. A friend said, the two were caught off guard by the rushing flood waters.
Firefighters saved at least six people from flood channels on Thursday, including two girls trapped in the Las Vegas Wash.
