It may have been a rainy morning in Falkville, but we had a lot of fun anyway! I visited the Third Grade Friday and was greeted by these smiling faces. We talked about a wide range of topics from, of course, weather to what the students want to be when they grow up. There are some bright futures ahead: meteorologists, teachers, doctors, and even one student wants to be a paleontologist.
Mrs. Lori Kyker teaches the science classes for this group, and these students know their stuff! I have the most fun when I can take a concept a step beyond where the kids have already been: things like following water through the water cycle and learning that thunderstorms (although sometimes scary) actually do good things.

As I was walking out, I happened upon a little bit of a celebration! Congratulations to Mrs. Paula Owens (4th Grade Science) for winning Morgan County's Teacher of the Year award! She was treated to a stretch limousine and lunch at Oh! Bryans Steakhouse in Hartselle (I've been there. That's good eating!)
Mrs. Owens' Fourth Graders were lined up cheering for her as she made her way out of the school to the limo. Those Falkville Blue Devils have a lot of school pride for a lot of good reasons.
