
LITTLE RIVER CANYON, Ala. – Teams from the Little River Canyon National Preserve and multiple other agencies are battling a large wildfire near the Martha’s Falls area of Little River Canyon.
Officials with the National Park Service say fire lines have been set.
The wildfire started Saturday morning and has since burned at least 350Â acres.
The stretch of Alabama Highway 35 from Alabama Highway 176 south to Alabama Highway 273 in Cherokee County was closed for a few hours Sunday due to thick smoke. Officials expect the roadway to reopen Sunday afternoon.
A portion of County Road 861 near Little River Canyon was closed closed due to the fire on Saturday night.
