Happy Easter Sunday Tennessee Valley! The day won’t be a complete washout but you will want to have your rain gear handy. Rounds of showers and storms will track through the region. A stationary front over central Alabama will begin to shift northward today, leading to a stronger southerly wind flow.
This wind flow will usher in milder air and moisture into the region. With an unstable airmass in place, rain showers and isolated storms will develop. Temperatures today will be slightly below average for this time of year, with highs forecasted to near 70 degrees.
The first batch of rainfall is moving through this morning, with most being on the light side. As instability increases through the afternoon, thunderstorms are forecasted to develop. The main concern from any storms will be locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and even small hail is possible. The strongest storms are forecasted to develop well to our south, in central and southern Alabama.
If you are heading to any easter egg hunts make sure to have that umbrella handy!
