Dogwood Winter: several nights of freezing weather ahead!

‘Dogwood Winter’ is a term commonly used to describe a cold snap when the dogwoods are in bloom. They’re looking nice right now after some rainy, warm weather, but a cold snap with up to three nights of near and/or subfreezing temperatures could damage blooms on trees, bushes, and any other Spring vegetation outdoors!

* WHEN...For the first Freeze Warning, from 4 AM to 7 AM CDT   Thursday. For the second Freeze Warning, from midnight   Thursday night to 8 AM CDT Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE STEPS NOW TO PROTECT TENDER PLANTS FROM THE COLD. TO PREVENT
FREEZING AND POSSIBLE BURSTING OF OUTDOOR WATER PIPES THEY SHOULD
BE WRAPPED, DRAINED, OR ALLOWED TO DRIP SLOWLY. THOSE THAT HAVE
IN-GROUND SPRINKLER SYSTEMS SHOULD DRAIN THEM AND COVER ABOVE-

GROUND PIPES TO PROTECT THEM FROM FREEZING.
