MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Thick fog and icy spots caused major delays on some of the Tennessee Valley’s main roads Friday morning.
Crews treated icy spots on overpasses and bridges. Memorial Parkway is now open coming from south Huntsville. The northbound lanes had been closed from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. from Martin Road to University Drive due to a multi-car wreck over Governors Drive. A police car was among the vehicles involved. No serious injuries were reported in any of the vehicles.
That change caused many drivers headed northbound to move to Whitesburg Drive, causing major backups there too during the schooltime rush.
Crews also brought sand trucks along Interstate 565 treating areas of concern.
Please drive slowly in the fog, and leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the next car.
