HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – This morning, there is court action expected in a murder case from 2012, as one of the suspects moves closer to his trial.
Dederick Derrick has a status hearing set for 9:00 a.m. at the Madison County Courthouse for his alleged role in the shooting death of Larry Christopher Cole in December of 2012.
Cole was shot and killed on December 4th inside a recording studio located at 2005 Poole Drive in north Huntsville.
Police arrested Derrick in January of 2013, nearly two months after the shooting.
The day of the crime, Huntsville Police say they responded to reports of a shooting around 9:30 p.m. Once they got inside the studio, officers discovered Cole dead from a gunshot wound.
Online court records indicate the day Derrick was arrested, he posted $25,000 bond and was released from jail.
The court appearance Thursday morning will be a status hearing.
Online court records indicate there was a motion for a new attorney for Derrick filed last year and denied.
His trial is set for November 17th at 9:00 a.m.
Derrick is one of four people charged in the murder.
