HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The day after Thanksgiving is a day of big discounts after a big meal with friends and family.

Retailers hope Black Friday deals will get consumers out of the house and into the stores.

However, this morning you might say it was a tale of two Black Fridays at least at two stores in Huntsville early this morning.

Shoppers were in line and ready to go at Academy Sports early this morning to get in on those big Black Friday deals.

The doors opened at 5 a.m. and it was not long before people were making their way out of the store with their Black Friday purchases.

The story was a bit this morning at just down Highway 72 West at Best Buy.

There was no sign of early-morning Black Friday buzz to be found.

What we did find were a couple of empty chairs in front of the store.  We also saw some people waiting in their cars likely due to the cold temperatures.

However, Best Buy is sure to see an increase in consumer traffic as the day continues.

We went back to Best Buy later in the morning and found a line starting to form in front of the store.

Best Buy employees have spent the entire week getting ready for Black Friday.

Employees have expanded various areas of the store to accommodate more customers.  One store manager says they are ready to go.

“We try to keep it organized to make it fun for the customers and the employees, so there’s not a lot of chaos that really goes on,” said store manager Cedric Seldon.  “We have lines set up, we line key and make sure everybody gets taken care of.  We also get a lot of help from HPD. They have a lot of officers up here, just in case something happens.”

A Consumer Reports survey indicates at least some diminishing interest in Black Friday.  According to the survey, 56 percent of adults say they had no interest in shopping on Black Friday.  Not wanting to deal with the crowds was the main reason given.

Consumer reports also offers this expert advice to make your Black Friday trip a success:

  • Refer to social media for discounts and deals.
  • Download money-saving apps to take along for extra coupons.
  • Search for a price match guarantee.
  • Buy the item you want, but pass on the expensive accessories.

One other thing, pack some patience with you this morning and be prepared to deal with heavy traffic, packed parking lots and long lines.
