This old hotel was once the place to see and be seen in the Huntsville.  Elvis stayed at the hotel during his performance at the Von Braun Center in 1975.  President Ronald Reagan even stayed at the hotel.  It was also a popular destination for locals and out-of-towners.

Now, the property will become part of a new chapter for the city.

Once the site is cleared, work will begin on Big Spring Square, a $70 million mixed-use development with a new hotel, apartments, shops and restaurants.

The groundbreaking is scheduled for this spring with the opening next year.
