HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police are investigating a robbery at a Hardee’s location on Andrew Jackson Way and Pratt Avenue.
Someone who appeared to be a hungry customer ordered at the drive-thru window just after 6:30 a.m.
But Hardees’ district manager says the masked driver was interested in more than the latest breakfast sandwich promotional.
“He pointed the gun, demanded the money, she handed it, he snatched it, and he left,” the manager recounts.
News of the robbery has certainly shaken up the crowd of regulars.
“That’s pretty desperate is all I’ve got to say,” customer Mary Wren told WHNT News 19. “And it shouldn’t happen. Not here where people bring their children and us grownups and all. It’s just not a good world out there nowadays.”
That’s a sentiment undoubtedly shared by the young cashier at the window Thursday morning.
“She was shaken and scared. Very scared. You know, we gave her a ride home and gave her the day off, gave her some extra days to recover,” the manager explains.
No one has been arrested, but Huntsville police are reviewing surveillance video.
In the meantime Hardees’ manager says they’ll be ‘beefing up’ their security.
The Pratt Avenue Hardee’s was robbed 5 months ago when a gunman actually entered the restaurant. Another Hardee’s was robbed a little more than a week ago. That crime happened at the location at Highway 53 and Research Park Boulevard.
