HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)– Huntsville Fire Fighters responded to several calls of a house fire on Crestmore Ave. around 12:30am on Friday.

When the HFD arrived the home was engulfed in flames. The homeowner did escape from the home. He says he woke up when he heard the sound of breaking glass. When he went outside he saw that his pickup truck and the carport were on fire. He believes the flames spread to the house from there.

It took fire crews about an hour to get the blaze under control. Unfortunately they were unable to save the home. The American Red Cross is assisting the homeowner this morning.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
