HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - You may just fall in love with February because of the money you can save during this month.  From the groceries you choose to the gifts you might give, experts on frugality have some money-saving tips for you.

First, look for deals on snack foods, now that Super Bowl XLIX is in the books.  Stores that stocked up on chips and dip or football-themed trays and platters will be trying to clear their shelves starting today.  That's the advice from ParentingSquad.com.

Perhaps this is the month to fall in love with broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, grapefruit, kale, lemons, oranges and tangelos.  According to FrugalLiving.com, those are the fruits and veggies in season right now and cheaper than others.

Their experts also say you can eat like a king later in the month if there is any seafood and steaks that didn't sell for Valentine's Day. That's when prices for those items will likely come down.

Other ways to save money may not win you any Valentines, but experts say you should stay away from flowers and jewelry since they are usually marked up during February.

Hang on for Monday, February 16th. That's Presidents Day which includes lots of store sales.  Perhaps your sweetie will forgive you if you wait until then to purchase a Valentine's Day gift and save a lot of money.  You can still observe Valentine's Day on the day with a homemade thought.
