MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – Crews have restored power following a widespread outage in Madison.

Police say crews responded to two substations to get the power turned back on.

Police sent an alert just after 7 a.m. indicating power had been restored.

Huntsville Utilities said the initial outage, at the 543 Jetport substation, happened because of equipment failure. The following power failure at the Gillespie substation was due to a squirrel.
