MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Traffic is flowing once again on Highway 431 in eastern Madison County after a wreck Thursday involving an 18-wheeler.

As of Friday morning, both northbound lanes of  Highway 431 are open again, as well as one southbound lane.

A wreck shut down traffic Thursday near the Flint River Bridge.  Investigators say the driver of an 18-wheeler hit a guard rail, and the vehicle fell between the north and southbound bridges and caught fire.

Officials say they found the body of the truck driver just after 10 p.m. Thursday. The truck has a license plate from Michigan.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue officials say the truck was carrying boxes of oil, but that oil is contained.  The Alabama Department of Environmental Management has been notified.

Officials say both sides of the bridge sustained structural and fire damage.  The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
