The neighborhood of brick homes is like many in Decatur, except for one unhappy feature.  At the intersection of Addie Drive and Margarete Drive a drainage pipe collapsed, and that led to the road being in terrible shape. "The road's surface has deteriorated terribly. It gets worse every year," says neighbor Roy Franks.

It's obvious from the crumbling asphalt and old-looking dips in the road that this situation isn't new. For those using the intersection it has become frustrating. "It's pretty bad, but you get used to it. Until you get fed up and call somebody," says Roy.  He called WHNT News 19.

What we found was a rough, oft-patched stretch of road that is visibly falling apart.  We're taking action and making sure Decatur officials are aware of the problem. "I would like to see the street repaired and the drainage issue taken care of," says Roy Franks.

The drainage issue is of course another problem, but it's also the cause of the road being in such bad shape.  To fix the road, you have to fix the drainage pipe.  It's a two-for-one good deal for the neighborhood.
