HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - If you spend much of your time on social media - (guilty) - you've probably discovered there are suggestions on everything from recipes to cleaning.

One of those cleaning suggestions caught our attention: cleaning your headlights with toothpaste and a toothbrush.

During the Christmas holidays, my car, "The Icebreaker" as it's affectionately known, rolled over 258,000 miles.

The headlights need work.  Aside from the once-a-decade cleaning where water falls on the headlight, the bulbs in my headlights have to fight through the cover.

So we thought we'd give the toothpaste/toothbrush headlights cleaning method a try.  If it works, it's cheap.  A $3 tube of toothpaste (we used Arm & Hammer brand) and a $1.50 toothbrush.

We rolled up our sleeves and got to work, and started scrubbing... and kept scrubbing.

After about five minutes, I had a clean headlight on The Icebreaker!

This toothbrush/toothpaste thing - we really like it.  It's a deal!
