Stars Lose Series Opener, Eighth-Straight

To begin a five-game series at Joe Davis Stadium to cap off the first half of the Southern League season, the Huntsville Stars fell to the Montgomery Biscuits by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday night. The Stars fell into an early deficit that they could not break out of as Montgomery scored five runs in the second inning off of Huntsville starting pitcher Josh Stinson. Stinson fell to 7-4 on the season after giving up six runs and 11 hits over three innings. On offense, the Stars got three hits each from center fielder Josh Prince and shortstop Tommy Manzella.

Game two of a five-game series will begin on Thursday as the Stars will send LHP Dan Merklinger (1-6, 5.93 ERA) to the mound to square off against Biscuits RHP Alex Colome (2-2. 4.79 ERA). First pitch is at 6:43 PM.
