Harvest, Ala. (WHNT) Most coaches will tell you it's not how you start, but how you finish. Winning three of their final four games last season was not good enough to get the Senators in the playoffs, but it created a belief that carried through the off-season.

"We started talking about team chemistry after the last game of the year. It built in the Spring and Summer. It's guys knowing who they can depend on and just being a family," said head coach Chris Cagle.

After so much coaching turnover, the Senators are really excited to have a foundation of consistency and trust. Senior quarterback Mason Edwards loves the attitude Cagle is bringing to the locker room. "A very positive mentality, he's showed us we can win. he's showed us that even though what's happened in the past he is going to stay, and we're ready."

Defensive lineman Grant Thornton feels the same way. "We have great team chemistry, Spring, Summer, nothing has slowed us down and we keep getting better and better."

Thornton is one of 13 seniors on this squad who has relied heavily on veteran leadership all off-season.

Sparkman opens  August 28th on the road at Scottsboro.
