MADISON, Ala. - For the first time in four year the Madison Academy Mustangs didn't play in the class 3A state title game in 2015, and as it turns out, the team won't get another shot at playing in that game.  Madison Academy is jumping up to class 4A this year, so the team will face opponents it hasn't had the opportunity to play in the past.  You lose a classic matchup with Lauderdale County, but creating new rivalries with schools like MAdison County is something the players are looking forward to.  "It is something that's cool.  Everything that we do is going to be history for Madison Academy,"  senior quarterback Grayson Edgemon said.  "It's the first time being in 4A, and it is fun playing against some different teams and seeing new people."

The Mustangs are also breaking in a new head coach.  Grant Reynolds comes in to replace Eric Cohu, but he doesn't want to shake things up too much.  Reynolds knows he's taking over a very successful program that knows how to win.  So while he plans to put his own fingerprint on the team, Reynolds says he's going to let Madison Academy just be the Mustangs everyone knows and loves.  "We tweaked some things on defense, but offensively we are going to be a spread team just like they were last year.  So a lot of things that we are doing are the same."

Madison Academy kicks off the new season August 26 at Ensworth high school in Tennessee.
