University of Alabama in Huntsville head volleyball coach Laura Taube announced the signing of outside hitter Kendall Knisley to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012 season.
A 5-10 captain as a junior and senior, Knisley joins the Lady Chargers after being a four-year varsity member at Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn.
Knisley was named to the 2010 and 2011 All-District, All-Prep Xtra and All-KIL teams, while earning camp MVP honors at the Belmont University and Wofford College camps in the summer of 2011. As a junior, she earned District Co-Best Blocker honors and was named to the Region 2 All-Tournament Team.
Her team made two trips to the Tennessee State Tournament, finishing fifth during Knisley’s freshman and senior seasons. Last year, her team set a school record for the most wins in school history. In addition, she was listed as a “Player to Watch” as a senior by the local newspaper.
Off the court, Knisley was a four-year member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the TSSAA Student-Athlete Award of Merit in 2010 and 2011 after completing high school with a 3.87 GPA. Knisley is the daughter of Dennis and Gayle Knisley.
With the addition of Knisley, UAH has added seven new players for the 2012 incoming class. The class also includes five freshmen: outside hitter Jordon Lambert (Goodyear, Ariz.), outside hitter Haley Snyder (Portage, Ind.), setter Alexis Deal (Birmingham, Ala.), outside hitter Olivia Bauman (Killen, Ala.) and defensive specialist Kennedie Lariscy (Thompson Station, Tenn.), and one junior college transfer: middle hitter Kristin Wyatt (Eagle Point, Ore.).
