Huntsville, Ala. - (WHNT) For as hot as the Huntsville Havoc was at home last season, the team was equally as cold on the road. The problem continued during the playoffs and ultimately led to the team falling short of an SPHL championship. Head coach Glenn Detulleo questioned the grit of his club in the off season and is already working on a new mentality. To start, he wants the Havoc to work on scoring "greasy goals."

What is a "greasy goal?" Glad you asked. A "greasy goal" is all about cleaning up the mess and outworking your opponent in front of the net. "Paying the price to score a goal," Detulleo said following the team's first practice. "Getting in front of the net. Battling for every inch. You might tip one in or take one off the leg. Just one of those goals that aren't very pretty."

It takes a special kind of player to make those goals count, which is why coach is preaching the mentality from day one. The Havoc has one more practice Thursday before two exhibition games Friday and Saturday. Detulleo and his staff must trim the roster down to 18 by Wednesday October 22nd. The first game is Friday October 24th, and the home opener is November 1st.
