Fayetteville High School wins first state championship

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — The Fayetteville High School Tigers captured the school’s first state football championship Friday evening.

The Tigers defeated South Pittsburg High School 20-14 to win the Division 1, Class 1A championship.

Fayetteville High School running back Kenardo Jackson was named the game MVP with 210 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The last time the two teams met in 2016, South Pittsburg defeated Fayetteville 42-0.

Fayetteville finished the season with a 13-2 record.
