Huntsville, Ala. – After splitting its two games last week, the University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s basketball slipped one spot in the national rankings while remaining in the top 10 as the Chargers are ranked No. 8 in this week’s installment of the NABC/Division II Coaches Poll.
UAH was not alone in dropping a contest last week as each of the team’s ranked from sixth to 13th all lost at least once during the period.
Despite being one of those teams that suffered a setback, Florida Southern remains at No. 6 this week to continue to be the highest-ranked team from the South Region. Joining FSC and UAH is Saint Leo who slipped to No. 20.
North Alabama – Saturday’s opponent for the Chargers – tumbles out of the rankings after falling to Union in overtime on Saturday, and the Lions are joined by Benedict in representing the region in the receiving votes category.
The top five in the poll remains the same this week with Metro State holding down the top position followed by Western Washington. West Liberty comes in third with Cal Poly Pomona and Seattle Pacific rounding out the group.
In between Florida Southern and UAH at No. 7 is Winston-Salem State, while the No. 9 position features Minnesota State and East Stroudsburg is No. 10.
The Chargers will return to action on Thursday when the team hosts Union at 7:30 p.m.
