HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team completed the sweep of visiting Alaska Anchorage by a score of 2-1 at the Von Braun Center on Saturday night in the series finale of the WCHA clash. UAH improves to 5-14-3 (4-10-0 WCHA), while UAA falls to 5-9-4 (2-8-2 WCHA).
This was UAH’s first series sweep at home since the 2010 season when the Chargers topped Niagara in consecutive games on Jan. 29-30. The back-to-back victories in a series are also the first for UAH as a member of the WCHA.
The Chargers fell behind early to the Seawolves as Austin Azurdia scored on a breakaway at 6:28 of the first to take a 1-0 advantage which would hold through the first 20 minutes of play.
UAA kept the 1-0 lead through the midway point of the second frame, but sophomore defenseman Brandon Carlson knocked in a redirected goal for his fourth score of the season. Freshmen Brandon Parker and Max McHugh were credited with assists on the equalizer.
