Huntsville, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Stars left fielder Rene Tosoni grew up a hockey fan. He was born in Toronto and moved to Vancouver as a child. He played both hockey and baseball until he was 15 years old. Then, he decided he could be more successful on the diamond than on the ice.
Since that decision, Tosoni has earned a spot on a Double-A baseball team. Still, Tosoni is still passionate about hockey and enjoys talking about the game with his baseball teammates.
“Me and Joey (Paciorek) are Canucks fans and Brock (Kjeldgaard) is a Blues fan so during the playoffs it went back and forth and now we got the American guys involved in the playoffs as well,” said Rene Tosoni, Stars left fielder. “Some of them try to talk hockey but they don’t know what they’re talking about, it’s kind of funny to hear.”
But not every teammate enjoys hearing about hockey.
“I try to block those conversations out as a whole because the hockey thing is not my cup of tea,” said Nick Shaw, Stars second baseman. “He’s a decent guy but I like to stick to the American sports.”
