NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WHNT) – The Tennessee Titans are in the market for a new head coach. The team fired Ken Whisenhunt 23 games into his tenure.
The move comes as the Titans, now 1-6 on the season, lost their sixth straight game over the weekend to the Houston Texans. Whisenhunt was 3-20 during his time as Titans head coach.
“We have expected more progress on the field, and I felt it was time to move in a different direction. I would like to thank Ken for his efforts with our team, as he worked very hard to try to move us forward,” said Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk in a statement posted on the team’s official website.
The Titans are expected to hold a news conference Tuesday in Nashville. Assistant Head Coach Mike Mularkey has been named interim coach.
