Decatur, Ala. - (WHNT) As a high school senior at Priceville, Danielle Richard batted .545 on her way to being named 4A softball player of the year. It seemed like nothing could top her high school career at the time, but now she has a different perspective. "playing softball at the University of Alabama, the only way to describe it is one of the best decisions of my life."

Richard is a four time Academic All-SEC performer, who helped the Tide win two conference championships and one national title in 2012. Now that she's a senior, head coach Patrick Murphy is fulfilling a promise he made four years ago. "One of the few things I try to promise the players when I recruit them is we will play as close to their hometown as possible so their friend's and family can see them."

On April 8th, 2015 Alabama will play Middle Tennessee State at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur. It's Danielle Richard night at the game. "Being able to play in Decatur which is right down the road from Priceville is a great opportunity for everyone to meet my family and see where I'm from,"  Richard said. It's also a great opportunity for some of her family and friends to see the Tide up close and personal.
