Alabama State wins 76th Magic City Classic 21-16

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( – After a first half characterized by no offensive scoring, Alabama A&M and Alabama State both found their groove and put together an exciting second half for the announced 61,221 fans in the Legion Field stands for the 2017 Magic City Classic.

Alabama State (2-5) got the upset 21-16 win over Alabama A&M (3-6) behind a first half pick six and a second half touchdown reception that stood up to an official review after receiver Alex Anderson bobbled the ball as he crossed the endzone plane.

On a day when offensive numbers were at a minimum, quarterback Darryl Pearson lead the Hornets with 85 yards while George Golden ran for 21. Anderson, Ronnie Scott and Chett LeVay each had a touchdown.
