Normal, Ala. (WHNT) – Three Alabama A&M quarterbacks are looking to replace Deaunte Mason as the starter: JUCO transfer Kyle Harmyk, redshirt freshman Chris Leachman and redshirt freshman Brandon Wells.
The school did not release official stats for yesterday’s Maroon and White game, but reports say Wells completed five of six throws in the second half for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Coach Anthony Jones says that performance is making Wells the front-runner.
“Except for that first series, I felt he clearly put himself ahead of everybody else,” said Anthony Jones, Alabama A&M head coach. “He had command of what was going on out there and made some plays.”
