TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (al.com) - The San Diego Padres selected Alabama catcher Kyle Overstreet in the 14th round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday.

Overstreet was on the SEC's All-Defensive Team as a second baseman for the 2015 season, and his primary position in his three seasons for Alabama has been second base. But he played some behind the plate as a senior, and the Padres listed his draft position as catcher.
