The Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs softball team completed a two-game sweep of the Alabama State Lady Hornets Sunday afternoon, winning the final game of the weekend series 4-2.

A thunderstorm moved in the area and rained out the last game of the series Saturday afternoon. The game was called at the top of the third inning with A&M up 3-0.

Once the contest began Anisa Britt pitched a complete game to pick up the win. In seven innings of work she allowed only two runs and eight hits, while striking out five batters.

The last time the A&M swept ASU was during the 2009 season, when the Maroon & White swept the Black and Gold three games to none.

Shaquille Morris led A&M’s offensive efforts, going 2-3 at the plate. She also recorded an RBI. Brianna Zeigler, Raven Grubbs, Meijah McCollum, Nicole Norton, and LaQueesha Poe recorded one hit each.

The Maroon and White opened the game with a run in the first inning. The Lady Bulldogs followed that with two runs in the second. ASU scored its only two runs in the third and fifth inning.
A&M returns to action for a weekend series with Mississippi Valley State University on April 5-6.

The three-game Eastern Division series will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday with a single game and a double header on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
