NEW MARKET, Ala. (WHNT) – After a standout junior season, 4-star Buckhorn linebacker Will Ignont transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. After three months in the Sunshine State, Ignont is back home with the Bucks.
“I really just wanted to be home after talking to coach Holladay. He’s a really good guy. I love him,” Ignont told WHNT. “I feel like he will do something special with our team, I feel like we’re gonna be special next year. I feel like a lot of teams are sleep on us but, you know, we want it that way. We have nothing to lose but all to gain and we’re gonna work hard here in the off season and summer and spring and get ready for next season.”
Ignont returned to Buckhorn on Monday and immediately rejoined his teammates in the weight room. He says it means a lot to finish his high school career in navy and gold.
“I’ve been playing with these guys since fourth grade. I remember playing little bucks with them,” said Ignont. “It’s big for me to walk with those guys and my friends and to see all the coach’s smiles on their faces, you know, it just makes me happy. I feel at home.”
According to 247 Sports Composite, Ignont is the No. 8 player in Alabama. Rivals rates him the No. 2 inside linebacker and No. 55 player in the country.
