(WHNT) – Beginning Friday, August 1 at 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, August 3 at midnight, many necessary school items will be exempt from the state’s four percent sales tax.

Many cities and counties are also participating in the holiday, removing local sales taxes.  Huntsville, Madison and Madison County are among them.  See the full list.

The tax-free items include clothing $100 or less per item, school supplies costing less than $50 per item and computers, software and computer items up to $750 per item. See the full list here.
