Many children in our community come to school in shoes that are too small or too large, tattered and torn.  Especially in winter weather, it`s hard to focus at school when your feet are uncomfortable.

Now through Valentine`s Day, February 14th, HEALS (Health Establishments at Local Schools) encourages people to collect new athletic shoes for children in need here in Huntsville and Madison County. You can drop-off shoes at the HEALS, Inc. Administrative Offices at 1100 Meridian Street in Huntsville or call (256) 428-7560

HEALS will distribute new athletic shoes to low income children at four area elementary schools:  Martin Luther King, Morris, University Place and Madison Cross Roads.

HEALS, Inc. provides school-based medical and dental care to low income children in Huntsville and Madison County. Children receive the same type of care provided in any pediatrician`s office or pediatric dental office. Care is provided in medical and dental offices located on school grounds, making it easier for parents to get children to the doctor or dentist.

All children in the family, from birth to age 19, receive a new pair of shoes at their annual medical check-up.
