HUNTSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) – Around 6:00 a.m Sunday morning, Huntsville Police responded to a confirmed shooting on South Plymouth Road.

Huntsville Police tell WHNT News 19 this all started when they tried to make a traffic stop at Normandale and Mastin Lake. Police said the driver would not pull over for them.
They then followed the vehicle to Plymouth Road. That’s when Huntsville PD say the person they were following got out of the vehicle and took off running.

Huntsville Police Captain Juan Joyner says they then ran after the suspect and then the suspect turned and shot at police. HPD returned fire and wounded the suspect.

21-year-old Sabore Basden was arrested. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injures. The officer was not injured.

The investigation continues.
