The Better Business Bureau has some good information about Price Gouging.

Alabama’s price gouging law is in effect when the Governor has declared a State of Emergency.  It prohibits the “unconscionable pricing” of items for sale or rent. Generally, that is a price 25 percent or more above the average price charged in the same area within the last 30 days.

If you experience gouging, be sure to keep your receipts as proof.  If you see price gouging happening, call the Attorney General’s office at (800) 230-9485.

And as always, you can call the BBB with any consumer issue at (256) 850-0719 or toll-free at (800) 94-BBB19.
