I never cease to be amazed at how things come out of left field to further the Kids to Love message, this time through music.
I get an email from a friend, D.J. Amerson on December 31st, asking if I wanted to come to L.A. and shoot a music video for one of my songs.
In 2 weeks we developed concept, scripts and story boards... booked the ticket... and headed to Hollywood!
My friend and director, D-D Amerson, set the music video in motion both literally and figuratively.
D.J. shares: "I had a band lined up for a music video and they ended up not being able to do it, and I figured if anybody should take this one it should be one of my friends, and I wanted it to be for a good cause."
That cause is my calling... to help meet the needs of foster children
Lee shares: "So I chose the song 'You Rescued Me' because it was personal. It’s my testimony and it ties in to our foundation and what we do to help other kids find families."
D.J made sure everyone, including CBS, understood the purpose behind the project.
"I made sure everyone knew what the song was, what the album was and the meaning behind it, and that moved everybody."
So we got moving.
We had only a week to create the concept for the video and just 2 days to carry it out.
D.J. shares: "It was challenging, but it was doable. We had a really good crew set up who were very ambitious once they heard what the project was. The actors were really excited to get on board."
Access to CBS studios made all the difference, from a city scene to a pretty recognizable neighborhood.
D.J. says "This is the residential street, the Brady Bunch street, the Leave it to Beaver street. They wanted us to have full access and a dynamic range of visuals for the shoot, and we took advantage of it."
D.J. did an amazing job bringing the song to life to tell the story.
There were several times it was so overwhelming I had to walk off the set... just the reality of the GODportunity!
We want you to join us for the world release of the video this Tuesday, May 7th at Monaco pictures.
In addition to the 'You Rescued Me' video release, director Ron Maxwell will be bringing his latest film 'Copperhead' for a charity screening to benefit Kids to Love.
