HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The homecoming for Lance Corporal Kendall Bane, a local Marine recently injured in Afghanistan, has been postponed until Friday morning.

He had been scheduled to fly to Huntsville this evening, but those plans were delayed.  Bane is now scheduled to arrive at Huntsville International Airport on Friday at 8:30 a.m.

Bane has been going through extensive treatment at Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.  Bane will continue his recovery through Huntsville Hospital.

LCpl. Bane, 19, is a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy.  He and his family attend Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville.

Bane was injured in a “green-on-blue” attack September 20 near Camp Hansen in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.  Bane was shot in both of his legs and several times in his lower abdomen.  In the attack, rogue Afghan forces mimicked Allied forces and then opened fire on the Marine command post.

Bane’s unit is the 3rd Battalion 8th Marines India Company, based out of Camp Lejeune, NC.  He has been deployed since April.
