Wetumpka announcing further volunteer opportunities soon

WETUMPKA, Ala. – The City of Wetumpka announced a search for volunteers to help with clean-up from Saturday’s tornadoes.

The city was hit by four tornadoes, which caused significant damage across the city.

However, due to 1,000 volunteers stepping up to assist the city, they city announced it was temporarily closing the volunteer center effective Monday night.

“At this time, the VRC will stop accepting volunteers so that the current volunteers and emergency personnel working the downtown area can safely conduct cleanup activities,” the city announced. “Opportunities to continue to assist will be announced soon.”
