HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Mayor Tommy Battle announced today that Huntsville will be adding an advanced manufacturing company to its growing automobile sector. The German-owned, BOCAR Group, will be investing $115 million dollars into a new plant. The facility will be located on the northern side of Bibb Garrett Road, adjacent to Interstate 65 with construction scheduled to begin Spring of 2018.
The Mayor announced that BOCAR will be supplying the Huntsville area with 300 new jobs with great wages. “A lot of times when we start talking about these manufacturing jobs, we also have to remember that for every one of these jobs, 2.5 other jobs are created,” said Battle.
Mayor Battle also commented on the caliber of the manufacturing company saying, “BOCAR is highly praised for its attention to quality and excellence, and when a company like that puts its seal of approval on Huntsville, it is recognizing our pro-business climate and our highly skilled workforce.”
BOCAR Group, which will be celebrating its 50-year anniversary next year, has a presence in Germany, Mexico, Japan and the United States. The company produces high-pressure aluminum die casting, plastics and does machining for companies like Nissan, Ford, GM and Toyota.
“We are glad to invest in Huntsville, Alabama, where good infrastructure, talented people and a host of excellent universities will develop our business while contributing positively to the social and economic development of this community,” said the company’s CFO Gerd Dressler.
Limestone County Commission Chairman Mark Yarbrough also welcomed the company saying, “We would like to welcome the BOCAR Group to Limestone County and we appreciate their confidence in our workforce. We know that they will be a successful part of our future moving forward.”
