Victim dies from injuries in Sunday morning stabbing off of Research Park Boulevard

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Officers on the scene say they were responding to a domestic disturbance between two people at a residence on Sunday around 10:45 a.m.

The call came from the 6900 block of Research Park Boulevard. Police say 61-year-old Willard Chunn and his girlfriend, 50-year-old Yvette Kelley were involved in a domestic dispute.

When officers arrived on the scene Chunn was bleeding from an apparent stab wound to the chest. He was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he died a short time later.

Police say Kelley was still on the scene at the time but was taken into custody. Investigators interviewed Kelley before transporting her to the Huntsville/ Madison County Metro Jail. According to Police, Kelley faces Manslaughter charges.

The case remains under investigation.
