BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The dean of the medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is taking over as president of the American Surgical Association.
Dr. Selwyn Vickers’ term began this month at the annual meeting of the professional association. A statement from UAB says the organization includes prominent surgeons from the nation’s top academic medical institutions.
Vickers became dean of the UAB medical school in 2013. He oversees the main campus in Birmingham plus regional campuses in Huntsville, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa.
