WASHINGTON, D.C. (WHNT) — The Senate passed its first budget in four years in the wee hours of the morning.
The Senate started debate on amendments to the resolution yesterday afternoon.
They started voting at 3:40 a.m. central time. By 4:00 a.m. they had a final vote count.
The budget passes 50-49.
It’s important to note that the budget is a non-binding resolution – so neither the provisions of the budget nor any of the 70 amendments that got voted on will have the power of law.
Both Alabama senators – Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby – voted against the budget.
