HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Ron and Judy Stepler now live in Huntsville, but at one time they traveled the world serving for the red, white, and blue. Ron and Judy met in the United States Air Force and have over 60 years of combined military service.

"In 1969, I was assigned to Ramstein, Germany as a nurse," said Judy. "That`s where I met Ron and he was assigned there as a dentist."

With all that military service under their belt, the Stepler's know that the price our troops pay comes at a high price. "Freedom isn`t free, absolutely, freedom is not free, our service people are giving their lives for every single day of the week and I think Americans really need to remember that," said Ron.

The Stepler's marriage while serving in the Air Force kept them on the move every few years. They told WHNT News 19 that there is always on constant in their lives. "God is number one in our lives and that has really is the key to having a good marriage," said Ron.

The couple has one strong message for those who are serving our country today. "Be courageous and don`t forget that god is there watching over you and taking care of you," said Ron.
