AUBURN, Ala. (WHNT) – Workers are cutting back the oak trees at Toomer’s Corner in Auburn today.
You can see the work taking place, through the City of Auburn’s web camera network.
Auburn University’s Tree Preservation Committee has said the trees should be pruned for safety reasons. Many of the branches are weakened, and workers are doing this now because fewer pedestrians are on campus.
Auburn says long-term decisions about the trees have not been made yet. Fans are encouraged to gather at Toomer’s Corner this fall and continue the tradition of rolling the trees with toilet paper.
