PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Police in Pigeon Forge have arrested a suspect accused of killing a 15-year-old boy at a hotel on Wednesday.

Officers responded to the shooting at the Americana Inn just before midnight Wednesday. The teen boy was taken to LeConte Medical Center where he later died.

Andrew C. Ortiz, of Sevierville, has been charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Sevier County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.

“We’re deeply saddened by this event and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s loved ones during this difficult time. As this incident is under active investigation, we’re unable to comment further and would ask that any additional questions be directed to the appropriate investigating authorities,” said a statement from the property management at Americana Inn a Travelodge by Wyndham.

The Americana Inn is located in the 2800 block of Parkway in Pigeon Forge. An internet search indicates the hotel is a Travelodge by Wyndham.
