FAYETTVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has canceled an AMBER Alert for a one-year-old missing from Lincoln County after he was found safe early Monday morning.
The incident began after Fayetteville police were dispatched to the 500 block of West Maple Street just after midnight to respond to a kidnapping call.
Once on scene, the mother of Roberto Godinez III advised officers that her son’s father, identified as 25-year-old Roberto Godinez II, came to her residence, engaged in verbal altercation, pushed his way inside the home and took the one-year-old boy.
An AMBER Alert was issued by the TBI just after 5:30 a.m. stating that Godinez III was missing and believed to be traveling with his father. Shortly after the alert was issued, the TBI reported the child was found safe.
According to Fayetteville police, the one-year-old was found safe with his paternal grandmother, but Godinez II was reported to be at large.
Godinez II was wanted for especially aggravated kidnapping and other offenses. Officials say the father returned to the police station and is speaking with investigators.
No other information was immediately released.
